Hello Everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I spent most of yesterday out in the garden clipping my hydrangeas.
I carried several heaping basket loads into my kitchen.
I can't believe that they have already started to turn. A sign that Summer is drawing to a close.
I have decided to try a new technique for preserving this years blooms. Adding glycerin to the water after they have been recut.
Ever heard of it?
I am anxious to see how well they keep.
Because I am planning on taking several bunches with me to sell at the event in October!
I think the color palette is perfect for my space!
I am so excited!
Have a wonderful week!

I have always loved hydrangeas, they are one of my few most favorites especially because of the complete diversity in colors and shapes! The blues speak to my soul and the pale pink to my heart....who can choose? Lately I'm craving these but in south florida is so challenging. I have to figure out how to have flowering bushes here. So beautiful is your post and I love your kitchen, and as always, the tinker house :D I use Mrs. Meyers' Dish-washing in Lemon Verbena, my fav...which is yours? :D
ReplyDeleteHi D:
DeleteMy current favorite Mrs. Meyers fragrance is geranium. It's so fresh and Summery!
Ohhh they're gorgeous... I haven't heard of using glycerin. Is it to help them dry? Sometimes my hydrangeas just completely wilt for no apparent reason. It's so weird... Your kitchen looks so great, and Meyers geranium scent is my favorite too!

Donna,
ReplyDeleteYour hydrangeas are just lovely! Keep us posted on how well they dry in the glycerin water. And yes, summer is just flying by!
Take care,

The hydrangeas are lovely, but i truly covet those shelves!
ReplyDeleteOh- I need to get my own clipped tomorrow. It is supposed to be a dry day. Love them!!! I love the color of yours- Ours are white or green here- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI thought the glycerin will keep the dried hydrangeas softer and here is a link I found:

Your hydrangeas are so beautiful and one of my very favorite flowers.
Happy drying dear...
I look forward to hearing how using the glycerin worked with your hydrangeas. Please give us an update later this fall to let us know if it was a success or not so much. Your hydrangeas are beautiful especially in the basket next to your farmhouse sink.

I love it when you come up for air, my friend. You have been in my thoughts and prayers! Everything is as glorious as ever inside and outside of your home!

How beautiful. Since we've move this last winter and are in the construction phase, I don't currently have any to harvest. This time next year will be different. I have 6 plants in my garden nursery waiting in their pots to be planted into the new landscape. Please do keep us updated on your method and it's success so we might try next year as well.
