Kitchen Updates, The Wedding Countdown and Pumpkins

Hello Everyone!

This morning, there is a chill in the air and a steady rain that's tapping lightly on my kitchen window.
It seems like Autumn now...
I get to wear a sweater until noon most days.

Work is proceeding at a snails pace in our new kitchen but at least there is progress being made.

Sweet Hubby the Carpenter works on it each evening when he gets home from his "real" job as do I...
On the days I'm not in the studio working on wedding projects and...

Pumpkins!

Yes, It's that time once again!
I've had several large orders to fill for a shoppe in Tennessee as well as Etsy orders this last week. I reopened my little etsy store a few weeks ago and have been busy ever since! Thank you so much for supporting my little shop!

This morning however, I await the soapstone guy! He should be here any minute to take his  final measurements and to make a template for our new counter!

I am so excited!
I thought I would share a few updates with you as I wait.

Here is the very simple toekick and "foot"  I chose for under the new cabinets...
They were added to the existing cabinets too!

Which I just finished painting!
Last night...hubby installed the hardware and this little area is now on our "Ta-da" list!
We call this the "beverage center"
On one side, we have our coffee maker and on the other, a refrigerator and a custom built cabinet for our stemware. Both are painted the same French Grey as the new cabinets and topped with the patina zinc counter.

The fridge side is tucked under the staircase in what used to be a doorway to the downstairs bathroom.
In the kitchen,
The Wall oven/microwave Cabinet is being built in place so to speak  and nearly complete as well.

This new unit takes the place of our original front door and part of the wall to each side. The new drywall was just completed  this past weekend and still needs a coat of paint... but it's getting there!

I will have more pictures of our kitchen  renovation soon ...but for the next two weeks...
I will be working on wedding projects.
Our son and his fiance's wedding is now just 17 days away!
More on this event  as well as our daughters wedding in the coming weeks!
Until next time...

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

  1. Your kitchen looks lovely! Where did you find the metal shelving on the wall?

  2. I remember when our house was being built and it felt like it was taking forever. But it's best that way so things will be done right.

I'm interested in that soapstone counter. I can't wait to see it as I've been wanting a new counter for a long time but am having a hard time choosing the type of stone. I'm so ready to get rid of the formica!

As for toe kicks, our builder thought I was crazy for wanting these, but I put my foot down there (pun intended), and it really makes a huge difference!

Good luck with your wedding plans. I know it will be spectacular with you at the helm.

  3. Love the pumpkins - they are little treasures that I would keep for years.

I just decided to put a farmers sink in our kitchen reno plans, and I love the idea of the basket under the sink shelf. The greige tone baskets add a warmth and authenticity to the look.

I know wedding plans are overwhelming...... but do take time to breath it in and enjoy!

  8. Ahhhhh, there are those adorable pumpkins, I think they are famous in blogland, everyone loves them, including me! The kitchen is coming along wonderfully, i really like the natural color of your floors too. Will they stay that way? And, a wedding in 17 days!!!? You must be so busy! Hopefully it will help distract you from waiting for the kitchen to be done!

  9. Hi darlin'!
I love how you worked the baskets into the cabinet design process!
Your kitchen is truly made with love. It's beautiful.

How did your soapstone meeting go?

I know that you are on the fast track with the wedding on the horizon.

And...your Etsy shoppe is open once again. Be still my heart!

On the weekend, I unpacked my D'Reyne pumpkin, and said a little prayer as i placed it atop our living room cupboard.

"God, thank you for our pretty Indian Summer, and thank you for my pretty, talented and inspirational friend, Donna!"
