Some Great Kitchen News!

I am so...excited...I just had to share the news with you!
I just spoke to the Carpenter who is building our new kitchen cabinets and it looks like they will be here to install them late August, sometime on or about the 28th!
Eeek!
I have been bouncing around here all afternoon !
Here is the pile of notes and pictures he took out of here in March...Poor Man!

My renderings of how I wanted the back wall and the wall oven built in to look.

And then a pile of paint swatches and finish chips! We decided to do two different woods in our kitchen, maple on the painted pieces and quartersawn  white oak on the armoire type pieces such as the Wall oven/ pantry built-in and refrigerator armoire. (which he is not building...more on this later)

I saw them in an early stage...even tried out the self closing drawer glides:)Then took him the measurements of my dishware, utensils and what-not for the special interior fittings and trays.
I made some treaks to the project in May and  final paint choices in June. Still have to make the final decision on knobs and or handles but I have about 3 weeks to do so!
Now, I just need to go see the soapstone guy and get him over to the shop to measure!
I am so excited!
I can't wait until I am able to cook an entire meal in one house!
Finally, there is a light at the end of our renovation tunnel!
Just had to share!

  9. I'm a lurker, and didn't think I'd chime in but here I am! We renovated a couple years ago and when the knob question came up I am so glad I told them NO knobs. We had a little notch put in the bottom of the doors so you can easily open them without a knob and it looks so much cleaner and less cluttered. The beauty of the wood and simplicity of the no-doorknob look is so nice. I know very few who have knob less doors, but it's something to think about. I worried they'd get dirty but they don't, and the look will never be dated. Just an idea in case you have not thought of it!
