When I first started participating
White Wednesday
hosted by Kathleen at Faded Charm
I never thought there would be any problem with finding
enough White to fill a simple post.
Well...was I ever wrong!
There have been times I couldn't find one thing
White
to post about.
Then...
I got real with it.
Most of my clothes (which consist of t-shirts and sweaters) were white!
All of my dishes and serving pieces are also white!
My bedsheets and blankets are White!
And so are my Bathtowels and washclothes.
All of my hankerchiefs
and even socks are white!
Wow!
What has been my problem!
Now I simply look around my little cottage,
And pick from the real world things that I surround myself and family with.
Today...I have a sort of special white to share with you.
After reading a recent post that Ness did on her lovely shade project...
I decided to make one myself!
While digging thru my stash of old gowns , lace and hankies...
In search of that certain White something I needed for my project.
I came across an old nightgown.
I barely remember this gown...or why I decided to keep it.
But I am so thankful I did!
The gown itself is made from the softest cotton
The body of it is embroidered with this allover pattern of flowers and leaves.
The bodice is done in lace and gathered areas.
And the waist has places where White ribbon once ran thru it!
because it is a long gown the body of it will be perfect for my little project!
I can't wait to get started!
Have a Wonderful White Wednesday!
Don't forget to check back!
I have been gathering up a few things for
my very first give-away!
(Details to follow soon)
Real Soon...I promise!

Hi Donna,
ReplyDeleteOld soft nightgowns are the best for recycling! I used a light pink one once to make a cover for my tv in the bedroom. It was just perfect...ruffle and all!!
Can't wait to see your project!

Hey Donna!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your shade project!
My buddy Troy of Junk Exchange just did a lamp using vintage gloves layered on the shade, it looked pretty spectacular (pics on his blog). I'll bet yours is going to look wonderful, too!
