Well...I just could not leave it alone! For the past 3 1/2 years, I have not decorated for fall on the exterior of the cottage and barely anything on the interior.
I guess I felt I was just too busy, I was only living here for a short time and I should concentrate on getting the big house ready to move into.
All of these reasons are legitimate...
It's just...
I will be living here for another winter and really do want it reflect my love of the season! I also just recently had an epiphany...
due to a back injury I have had to spend my weekend on the sofa with a heating pad. ..
I have been so... bent on moving HOME.
I have not been thankful for the little cottage.
If it had not been for the cottage, we would be living in the total chaos that we refer to as the big house!
(Thank You God)
We have a very wonderful little place to retreat when we are done working for the day!
So...
Like all of the vignettes I design for the store in Tipton...
I just had to keep adding to it and
I even gave it a name
"A Novel Idea for Autumn"
Of course...My supervisor was ready for a nap so before he jumped up on the settee, I took his picture!
This is a closeup of the grapevine garland I put around the door! I cut fall leaves from book pages and attached them with tiny clothespins!
The giant grapevine acorn and these pine cone lights just came in at the store...they really look amazing at night along with the battery candles I placed in each of the lanterns.
I feel like I'm home now...I thought you would enjoy the view! I hope you have a great fall season and remember to Thank God for the little things.
Au Revoir...Autumn blessings to one and all!
Oh, you did a wonderful job decorating around your house! It is such a great season with all the colours, the fresh air and all the creative feelings that suddenly arrives. A house and your exterior reflects how you feel, that is how I see it.
ReplyDeleteI was so glad you stopped by today, and for leaving me a comment. Thank you :)

Hi Donna
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me at chair up.
You are so right about thanking God for where we are right now.
Enjoy autumn while it lasts, it's such a beautiful season. Since we moved to Queensland in Australia (from New Zealand) we don't seem to have 4 seasons anymore and I really miss the uniqueness of each of them.

ReplyDeleteDonna, first I want to thank you for your lovely comment on our Retreat blog... you are so sweet! Your store display work is just fab - I can really appreciate the hard work it takes, as I've been in retail visual for over 35 years. I'm adding you to my blog links!
ReplyDeleteDonna, sorry to hear you're being made to take a rest, but enjoy it. Your wreath of book pages and the garland are so unique and just beautiful. I know life wants to make me hurry, but it's good to enjoy where we are sometimes. Sounds like your house is almost completed, how wonderful for you. Take care, and feel better. Love this Petite Journal!
