The Lilacs are in Bloom, a Milestone Birthday and a new pair of boots

Hello my friends!

Spring has finally arrived here at home and I thought I would share the view from my kitchen window.

One of the main reasons I wanted to move the kitchen to what was our living room before the renovation was so that I could see this old lilac bush from the window over my sink.

It's supposed to rain today and throughout the weekend so I went out to pick some lilacs before it arrives.

The fragrance is intoxicating!

So fresh and fabulous! Lilac season is so short I just want to flood the house with their fragrance!

I brought enough in to place a bouquet in every room!

Before I place them into my pitchers and vases, I smash the ends with a hammer. This allows for more water to be soaked up by the flowers and they tend to last longer.

I use my gramps old hammer,  partly for nostalgia and well it's become a habit.

I left a small pitcher on the windowsill to enjoy while I do dishes...
And then scattered several through out the house!

They look so pretty in the newly completed living room and library. My current favorite place to hang out.

While I was away from the blog, I made two trips to Texas to see Miss Paisley Reyné.
She will be 6 months old on Sunday... what a personality!
I can't believe how time flies!

We Spent Easter there... Paisley's first!

I celebrated one of those milestone birthday's there too!

Paisley helped me blow out those crazy candles...

And came home with new boots from my dear sweet hubby!

Life is good!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Take time to smell the flowers!

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Until next time, Many Blessings!

  1. donna, Happy belated birthday....you are just a kid. I love the baby photos. Where did that 6 months go already?? I did not know that about the lilac stem smashing. I will remember , when my lilacs grow enough to pick...I do not want to stunt the growth by picking while it's so young. Well the bush is Almost 8 years old...but it only bloomed for the first time last year. Hope you have a beautiful Mother's Day . Blessings, xoxo,Susie
