The Gift

Hello my friends!
Thank you so.. much for your sweet Birthday Wishes yesterday!
It made my day even better than it was...which was pretty sweet !

As I shared with you yesterday, sweet hubby, the carpenter took the day off from his real job and spent the day with me!
He had been trying for days to get me to tell him what I wanted...I had no ideas.
All I really want...ever want...is to finish the house project.
So after our morning coffee...
He sketched this!

A plate rack that I have been wanting for my new kitchen!
Custom made for my wall no less!

5 hours later...

He hung it on the wall!

I'm ecstatic!
It's exactly what I had been wanting!

Designed for my platters...

And perfect for the wall in my kitchen!

On a trip to town for trim...he picked up my favorite pie that he had ordered for my birthday!

It's coconut cream... he doesn't even like it...but knew it was my fave...so that's what he got for me!

It is heavenly!
In a few minutes, I'm going to prime my new plate rack and then paint it the same color as the cottage planking...
But right this minute...I'm eating pie!

I had such a wonderful Birthday...but the best gift of all...was his staying home and spending it with me!
Until next time...

  6. Lovely birthday gift from your hubby Donna!! I have plans for my hubby to help make a few things, but he is now working 50 hours a week and that doesn't leave much time for anything else. Poor guy comes home, eats dinner {or supper}, showers and sits in his recliner and falls asleep!! One of these days...when things slow down!!
LOVE Coconut cream pie! It has always been a favorite of mine and Marie Callendar {not sure if that is spelled right} is to die for...in the frozen section. I know, but it really is amazing!!
    Blessings~

  21. Donna!
Your plate/platter rack is beautiful! Such detail right down to the grooves!
I have to laugh at how connected you and I are sometimes. I have had coconut on the brain lately...I toasted some last night to have handy for yogurt, fruit and a weekend scoop of ice cream!
I hope you had a slice of that perfect pie for breakfast this morning! Off to the office I go!
Have a lovely, lovely, lovely day priming and painting your pretty new piece!

  22. HOORAY for fabulous, thoughtful husbands - and for PLATE RACKS! He is one special guy - he made that in just 5 hours? Incredible. If there was ever an ideal candidate for a new version of the television programme 'Husband Swap' he'd be it. I'd apply just to have him come over and sort out my kitchen rack - don't worry - my husband makes a mean spaghetti bolognese AND he likes coconut. I think that we'd cope for just about one day -lol. Happy belated birthday.
Great blog - gorgeous images. x
